Clinical Significance

Leptin – Leptin is an adipocyte-derived hormone that is essential for normal body weight regulation. Leptin production is under neuroendocrine control so that serum concentrations vary directly with the amount of triglycerides stored in adipose tissue depots.

Reference Ranges

Pediatric male and female:
0.6-16.8 ng/mL (5 – 9.9 Years)
1.4-16.5 ng/mL (10 – 13.9 Years)
0.6-24.9 ng/mL (14 – 17.9 Years)

Adult Lean Subjects:
With BMI range of 18-25 (18-71 Years)

Male:
0.3-13.4 ng/mL

Female:
4.7-23.7 ng/mL

Adult Subjects:
With BMI range of 25-30 (19-60 Years)
