With new and changing laws in regards to state-based legality and increased usage of cannabinoids, including Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC, Delta-9 THC), Cannabidiol (CBD), Delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta-8 THC), it has become ever-important to be able to differentiate between usage of the legal and illegal compounds.
Although THC is variably legal in many states, its man-made counterparts, specifically Delta-8 and CBD, are legal more often than not, and will interfere with standard THC screens and even confirmatory methods. Luxor Scientific is able to differentiate Delta-8 THC and CBD from Delta-9 THC using our proprietary sample preparation and LC-MS/MS method.
Novel Illicits/Emerging Drugs
Drugs are changing and novel illicit drugs are increasingly sneaking their way into the nation’s drug supply creating unsuspecting co-addictions. Drugs such as xylazine, nitazenes, tianeptine, and bromazolam, are highly addictive and fatal.

Synthetic Urine
We have found that up to 2% of samples received at Luxor Scientific are substituted with synthetic urine.
Urine Confirm is a test used to detect if a patient’s urine sample has been substituted with synthetic urine. Results help ensure providers have the best knowledge on a patient’s medication adherence. Urine Confirm tests for markers in human urine to establish authenticity of the urine specimen, which allows providers to detect patients attempting to simulate compliance.
Thebaine (Poppy Seeds)
Traditional laboratory practice only informs physicians if morphine and its metabolites are present in a patient’s sample.
Luxor Scientific detects thebaine, a compound only found in poppy seeds. If thebaine is present, it is possible that poppy seed consumption caused the positive morphine result. In this way, Luxor Scientific can help differentiate between heroin, morphine, and poppy seed usage.
