Emerging Tranq drugs have become an increasing concern to communities across the US.

The hard to detect but extremely deadly Xylazine is running rampant in as much as 90% of the drug supply in some parts of the US. On July 11, 2023, the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) designated fentanyl combined with xylazine an emerging threat to the US as cases continue to rise. These combined cases of fentanyl and xylazine drug use complicates treatment as there is no known antidote for xylazine, presenting a challenge to providers on how to diagnose and care for patients.

Our industry leading team of scientists and operational leaders have developed a comprehensive test to identify if Xylazine is present in both urine and oral fluid samples. Luxor Scientific is one of the only labs in the US to offer this specialized testing, providing accurate results and 24-hr turnaround times.

Xylazine is a horse tranquilizer and large animal sedative with pain killing & muscle relaxant properties. Though not intended for human use, it is being mixed with heroin, cocaine, meth, and other street drugs leading to a concerning increase in overdose deaths across the country. It is often added to illicit opioids to lengthen euphoria and is often used in conjunction with these illicit drugs.
