Test Details
Clinical Significance
Liquid Based Pap Testing is intended for use in the screening and detection of cervical cancer, pre-cancerous lesions, atypical cells and all other cytologic categories as defined by The Bethesda System for Reporting Results of Cervical Cytology. Pap screening is not reliable for the detection of endometrial cancer. Testing for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) DNA is an important adjunct to the detection of premalignant or malignant lesions in women.
The HPV test simultaneously provide pooled results on high-risk genotypes and individual results on the highest-risk genotypes, HPV 16 and HPV 18, at clinically relevant infection levels.
